Once upon a time, they ruled a million hearts. In their wide-flared bellbottoms, flowery shirts and oversized goggles, they were playful and cool. Now many seasons later, Zeenat Aman and Neetu Singh are ready to play their second innings on celluloid. And there’s a possibility that Sridevi too might do the same.
Zeenat Aman is making a comeback in Anil Sharma’s Dunno Y… Naa Jaane Kyon. Neetu Singh will be seen in Habib Faisal’s Do Dooni Chaar.
Most heroines of Zeenat’s time have faded from memory, with the exception of Hema Malini. Kapil Sharma, who has scripted Dunno Y… Naa Jaane Kyon says that the film is a mature love story of a Catholic woman deserted by her husband played by Kabir Bedi. Interestingly, Zeenat will be doing an encore of her superhit number, Chura liya hai in the film.
Neetu Singh was last seen in Ganga Meri Maa in 1983 before a guest appearance in Love Aaj Kal recently. She’ll be next seen as the Punjabi wife of a mathematics teacher (played by hubby Rishi) in Do Dooni Chaar. Set in South Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar-Jangpura area, the film is directed by Faisal who earlier scripted Ta Ra Rum Pum and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007). ‘‘It’ll release sometime in December 2009,’’ says Singh.
